I certainly wouldn't mind anybody asking me if I had RA but I'd probably hesitate to ask anyone else in case I was wrong.

Oh my goodness, it happened to me last night and I said not a word!

I met a lovely new friend called Angela at an Advent party...she was using one crutch and when we began chatting, I noticed her hands were swollen and quite RA-like. The point which made me wonder was she is very young....

Still, I didn't ask, when I told Mark, he suggested I could have mentioned my RA and then she would have either said 'I have this too!' or not......

She asked for my e/mail as she's studying Theology at Oxford and was very interesting!

Love,
Amanda

If i am changeing at the pool with others its easy to tell .I am cheeky and ask .

then i say i have it and i look compleatley noraml .Which is mainley due to the wonderfull O.T
she has got my hands from bent to back to shuting .And MTX

its good to chat about it as it teachs people cos they say oh i have a bit of that its in my knee. .

i now know that i looked after people in home care with bad R.A .

I think i maybe dont have full blowen R.A AS I also have psoriasis caused by Arthritis P.A
and scleroderma overlap .Though it looks like i might need lots of visits to hospital at moment
i feel well and moblie and can work out up the gym for 20 mins and Swim .though a lot slower then others

i suprise my self how much i can do .

sometimes i don,t say anything as i look fine .Say if i am in hot tub with someone going on how ill they are .
I also don,t say much as i look ok too famlie .( as scan could say M/S or a stroke )
So to strangers i ask and chat about it and have made some good friends though that .
Famlie no they think i just have R.A .

You've raised a good point here Christine. If RA patients themselves won't talk about their RA, how on earth are we ever going to educate non-RA'ers?

I wouldn't call it being "cheeky", its about being honest and open. That's how I would prefer people to be with me.
